3 people arrested for sodomizing a 10-year-old girl in the Center region

The Central Regional Police Command arrested three people for desecrating a 10-year-old girl at Abura Edumfa in Abura Asebu Kwamankese District.

The suspects, John Amoah, 28; Frederick Nyarko, 42, and John Ofori, 45, have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear in court on April 21, 2022.

On Thursday, March 31, the ninth-grader was sent by one of the suspects to buy some things for him.

When she returned, the suspect asked her to put the items in the room, after which she was defiled and sodomized by the four men.

According to the victim, the suspects threatened to kill her if she revealed her ordeal to anyone else.

The victim, out of fear, kept the act to herself until she began to bleed profusely from her vagina.

After persistent questioning from her parents, she opened up about the defilement and sodomy she suffered.

Abura Dunkwa Police subsequently arrested three of the four suspects, who are currently in custody.

The regional police public affairs unit released a statement on Saturday saying efforts were underway to arrest the fourth person to help with investigations.

“Police Command is appealing to the general public for anyone with credible information on the whereabouts of the fourth suspect, Kojo, to go to the nearest police station and assist in investigations or call the toll free number 18555.

“The Command assures the general public that it will continue to protect life and property by enforcing the law,” the statement added.

In an earlier media interview, the victim’s distraught mother, Ekua Grace, said the girl, who cannot walk properly, is experiencing severe vaginal pain.

She added that her daughter cannot sit for long and cannot wear panties because blood continues to leak from her vagina and anus.

She therefore called on the police to pursue the suspects and arrest the remaining suspect to bring justice to her daughter.
