The Central Regional Office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has confirmed the death of Mrs. Ama Benyiwa Doe, former deputy (MP) of Gomoa West and regional minister of the Center.
According to Mr. Kwesi Dawood, communications officer for the central region of the NDC, Ms. Benyiwa Doe died at the University Maritime Hospital on Sunday, September 19.
He said she had served her party and her country well.
“Truly she has paid her due to God, Ghana, Grand NDC, Central Region and Gomoa West and we pray the Almighty to give her peaceful rest,” noted Mr. Dawood.
“Aunt Ama was a true Titan and one of our most important female voices on national issues,” he said and described her as a fantastic cadre and a true and committed NDC activist.
He shared fond memories of the late Ama Doe and said that “it was always a pleasure to listen to her opinions expressed in the crazy language she spoke impeccably.”
Ms. Doe was Member of Parliament for Gomoa-Ouest from 1992 to 2004 and Regional Minister for the Center from 2009 to 2012.
She was also a former member of the State Council during the Mahama administration.
She was also the national women’s organizer of the NDC.
