European players of the hit massively multiplayer game lost ark have faced long login queues since the game’s launch – and now developer Smilegate RPG and Western publisher Amazon Games have admitted there’s not much they can do to improve the situation, due the rigidity of the game’s architecture. In a blog postSmilegate and Amazon said they could not further increase capacity in the Central Europe region.
As promised last week, a new West Europe server region has been added. But with no possible character transfer and no cross-regional play, this does little to help players who have invested time on the Europe Central servers.
“We know players are still experiencing long queues in Europe,” the development team said in the post. “The Central Europe region is at capacity and unfortunately there is no way to increase the number of players per world in Central Europe. Adding additional servers is not possible due to the complexity of all the systems that need to work together.”
The team noted that the Western Europe region “is an attractive option for new players or for players who have not progressed significantly over Central Europe”. Players who purchased Founder’s Packs for free play received a second variation of the packs, to allow switching servers without leaving behind the goodies they had already claimed.
The post noted that the server forwarding feature has actually just rolled out in Korea, where lost ark has been available since 2019. But it is a weekly batch manual process and does not support inter-regional transfers, so it would not help Central European players in their current situation.
“We won’t rest until we exhaust all options,” the developers said.
the lost ark The team said they are actively working on a number of other fixes, including improving matchmaking, reducing gold vendor spam, and improving the stability of Crystalline Aura, an in-game subscription system that offers various benefits to your character on an ongoing basis.
